College Advising

Mr. Heil spent over 20 years as a psychologist and guidance counselor at Analy High School in Sebastopol, California, recently named one of the top high schools in the U.S. by Newsweek Magazine. He has been at the forefront of technological innovation in advising, having created one of the first comprehensive web presences for a counseling department in California.  His students have been admitted to hundreds of universities in the US and abroad, including most  “elite” schools.  Mr. Heil's clients are both domestic U.S. and international.

 

"Joseph," as his clients know him,  is remarkable for his rapport with students and deep commitment to his relationship with advisees, often answering questions at odd hours and on weekends. For Mr. Heil, finding the right college is a very personal process. His approach is highly individualized and personal. He has helped numerous students find the right college “fit.” His counseling has helped numerous students find their life direction as well.  For these reasons, most families choose to have Mr. Heil work with their student early in their high school careers. 

Mr. Heil is particularly skilled with appeals and development of personal statements and essays.

As a former university athlete and high school and competitive club coach, Mr. Heil is also an excellent advisor and mentor for top athletes seeking to continue on to college level playing careers.

 

Mr. Heil continue to visit colleges and universities each year to ensure that his clients have vital and up-to-date knowledge of their college options and the college admissions process.
